Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town celebrates National Sports Day

National Sports Day was celebrated in Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.  The day is aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of physical activities & sports in life. Through a special assembly Harshpreet Singh & Janakpreet Kaur, Sports Captain (Boys & Girls) enlightened about Major Dhyan Chand who is a live example of true sportsman spirit & patriotism who brought gold medals in 3 Olympic Games in 1928, 1932 & 1936.

To mark the significance of the day, an assemblage of events took place in the school for classes 1 to 12. Both boys & girls participated in Tug of War, Basket Ball, Volley Ball &  

track events etc. Events were performed classwise (classes 1 to 8) & housewise (classes 9 to 12) to inculcate the feeling of true sportsmanship among the children & to enhance their physical & social skills. Certificates were distributed to the winners.  

 An Oath Taking Ceremony was conducted in the school in which Principal, Mrs. Gurmant Kaur Gill, read out the Oath followed by Sports Teachers and the students of senior classes.
